Cheetahs

Physical characteristics:

Cheetahs are the fastest animal on land. They are also wildcats. Full grown cheetahs can weigh 50 to 140 pounds (34 to 64 kilograms) and they can be 4.5 feet (1.4 meters) long. Cheetahs have yellow fur with black spots.

Habitat:

Cheetahs live in African savannas and in some parts of Asia. The have to have an hot environment so they can only see. (Skip to fun facts to learn more). They need the long, tall grassy habitat to hide.

Diet:

Thank to the cheetah’s speed they can catch fast animals. Cheetahs are carnivores so they meat like antelope, impala, gazelles, springbok, steenbok and warthogs. They sometimes steal from lions.

Life cycle:

Cheetahs can live up to 10 to 12 years old. Cheetah cubs are not born with spots. They’re born with black and white fur on the top of their bodies and yellow fur on the lower part of their bodies.

Adaptations:

Cheetahs have a long tail to balance when running extremely fast. They have learned to hide in the tall grass when a predator like a lion shows up. Cheetahs can also see into the sunlight.
